What to Do and When: Your Pre-Wedding Beauty Service Map

Let’s be real: planning a wedding is basically a full-time job you didn’t apply for. You’re spinning a million plates, and the last thing you need is stress about when to book your brow shape or get that perfect, natural-looking tan.

Deep breath. I’ve got you. With over a decade of experience getting brides ready for their big day, I’ve seen it all. Think of me as your beauty-bestie-turned-logistics-manager. I’ve created this pre-wedding beauty timeline to take the guesswork out of the equation, so you can focus on the fun stuff (like cake tasting).

Consider this your official pre-wedding beauty service map, straight from my little black book to you.

My Number One Rule for Bridal Beauty

Before we dive in, let’s get one thing straight. If you take away anything from this, let it be this golden rule: trial everything. And I don’t just mean your makeup. I mean everything. Your brows, your tan, that new skin treatment… everything.

My personal hot take? Trial it all at least twice. The first trial is to see if you even like the service and how it settles. The second is to refine it, making sure it’s absolutely perfect for the day. This is non-negotiable for a stress-free wedding week.

Your Pre-Wedding Beauty Timeline

Think of this as a flexible guide, not a rigid schedule. Every person is different, so listen to your skin, your gut, and your beauty professional (hi!).

6+ Months Out: The Foundation Phase

The secret to flawless wedding day makeup isn’t a magic foundation; it’s the skin underneath it. If you’re considering starting any new, intensive skin treatments or facials, now is the time to start.

  • Start Your Skin Journey: This is the perfect window to introduce new treatments or professional facials. It gives your skin ample time to go through any initial reactions or purging cycles and settle into a beautiful rhythm. We don't want any surprise reactions closer to the date.
  • Consult a Professional: Whether you’re dealing with texture, acne, or just want an extra boost of radiance, book a consultation to create a plan.
  • Lock in Your Key Suppliers: 12 months out would also be the time to book your hair and makeup artist. Popular artists (like yours truly) get booked out well in advance, especially for peak wedding season. Securing your bridal makeup artist now means one less thing on your mind.

3-6 Months Out: The Trial Run Era

Welcome to the experimentation phase! This is where we road-test your entire beauty look to ensure everything is perfect. No surprises allowed on wedding week.

Makeup Trial #1

Let’s get together and create your dream look. We’ll chat about your dress, your personal style, and how you want to feel. We do recommend having your spray tan on for the trial so you can really see how it will all come together, but it is not 100% neccessary as we will always match your face to your body. This first trial is all about getting the look and feel right.

Dermaplaning Trial #1

If you haven’t had it before, our dermaplaning skin treatment is a game-changer for smooth, radiant skin. It's a non-invasive treatment that removes vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells, allowing makeup to glide on like a dream. Having a trial now lets you see how your skin responds and how it looks and feels one to two weeks post-treatment, which is the magic window for application.

Brow & Lash Trials

Thinking about a brow lamination and/or tint or a lash lift? Now is the time to try it. You can see how you feel with the results and how they grow out. Getting your brows done with me means we can map out a shape that will be perfectly grown in and ready for the wedding day.

Spray Tan Trial #1

A spray tan is a definite must-trial. This isn’t the time to hope for the best. You need to be comfortable with the colour, the fade, and how it makes you feel.

2-3 Months Out: Final Touches & Second Trials

We’re in the home stretch now. It's time to refine and lock in your look.

  • Makeup Trial #2 (Optional): This is our chance to make any final tweaks if you are feeling unsure about anything. This appointment ensures we are 100% aligned and ready.
  • Dermaplaning/Brow/Lash Trial #2: Run it back! A second trial for these key services confirms consistency and gives you total peace of mind.
  • Don't Change Your Skincare: Whatever you’ve been doing for the last few months, keep doing it. Do not, I repeat, do not introduce any new active ingredients or products now. Consistency is your best friend.

The Week Of: It's Go Time

7-10 Days Out: Dermaplaning

This is the sweet spot. Having your final dermaplaning treatment about a week to ten days before the wedding gives your skin time to settle, ensuring maximum smoothness and radiance for makeup application.

5-7 Days Out: Brow Shaping & Tinting

I recommend getting your brows shaped and tinted about a week before. This allows the tint to soften slightly for a more natural, 'lived-in' look that still has definition. If you’re used to super fresh brows and that’s your vibe, we can do it closer to the day. Because I tweeze instead of wax, you won’t have to worry about that awkward phase where makeup won’t stick to freshly waxed skin. A little hot tip: if you aren't coming here (you should be!), ask for a wax-free shape or get waxed at least a week out.

Lash Lift? A Word of Caution

Here’s a cheeky bombshell: I generally advise brides to steer clear of a lash lift right before the wedding. A fresh lift can make it tricky to seamlessly apply false lashes, which often provide the perfect amount of fluffy drama for photos. However, if you're jetting off to your honeymoon and can’t live without your lift, let's chat. We can do a softer lift, or you can opt to skip the false lashes on the day. It’s all about what works for you.

1-2 Days Before The Wedding

The Final Spray Tan

Book your final spray tan one or two days before you say “I do”. This gives it time to develop fully and for you to have that all-important first rinse, ensuring no bronzer transfers onto your dress. Remember to moisturise religiously after that first rinse to keep the tan looking fresh and even.

A Few Final Hot Tips

  • Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Seriously. Drinking plenty of water in the weeks leading up to your wedding is the most underrated beauty trick. It plumps your skin from the inside out and makes a huge difference in how your makeup sits and lasts.
  • Tan Prep is Key: In the days before your spray tan, moisturise your body like it’s your job. But on the day of your appointment, arrive with clean, dry skin with no moisturiser, deodorant, or perfume.
  • On the Wedding Day: When I arrive to work my magic, please have a completely clean, makeup-free face. I’ll handle the rest. My process includes gentle skin prep with light exfoliation, plus a hydrating lip and under-eye mask. It’s not just about creating a perfect canvas; it’s about giving you a moment of calm and pampering before the whirlwind begins.

And just like that, you’re ready. Your skin, brows, and tan are looking on point, and you have a clear plan. Wedding planning is a marathon, not a sprint, and your beauty prep should feel like a reward, not another chore.

Feeling a little clearer? If you’re ready to start mapping out your own bridal beauty journey, book it in. I can’t wait to be a part of your day.
