Dermaplaning FAQs

  • Redness, sensitivity, or mild itchiness is normal and will settle within 48 hours. Your skin might “purge” a little, with breakouts or dryness. Be kind to your skin and follow our aftercare advice.

  • Most people can! We don’t recommend it for those with active and wide spread acne, eczema, psoriasis, sunburn, or certain medical conditions.

  • For 7 days before (and after) your appointment, avoid vitamin A, heavy sun exposure, chemical exfoliants, waxing, or shaving. Always wear SPF 30+ or 50+. Light scabs can sometimes appear — let them heal naturally.

  • Nope! Dermaplaning only removes peach fuzz, which doesn’t grow back thicker. If you have coarser hair in those hormonal areas, we recommend a lip and/or chin wax 7–14 days prior.

  • Nope! Dermaplaning is painless and feels more like a gentle scraping. We actually find it to be quite therapeutic!

  • We recommend every 4–6 weeks to align with your skin’s natural renewal cycle and maintain that smooth, radiant glow.

  • No. Dermaplaning only removes fine vellus hair (peach fuzz), which grows back exactly the same texture and colour. This is because the vellus hair doesn’t grow deeper than the dermis layer of the skin/it is only surface level hair.

  • Yes! In fact, makeup glides on beautifully after dermaplaning. We suggest waiting a few hours if your skin feels a little sensitive, but most clients love applying makeup the next day.
